Golf QR Code – Useless or Genius?

qr_codeWith the numbers of smart phones growing and iphone hitting the 30 million mark in sales alone….there is the ever expanding secondary market to go along with that. The golf industry has yet to adopt the QR Code technology as not that manner people are up to speed or have a scanner app downloaded on their phone.

Is it easier to just punch in the contact info or URL or scanner a QR code and them be redirected? Could it be a novelty that the Japanese have dropped in our lap from the Toyota factories years back or is it the next big thing?

Some retailers are trying to entice shoppers with discount QR Codes but they have had little response according to analytics……..could the golf industry benefit from this technology? How would they implement it into the inner circle of golfs elite companies? Who will the first player be to use it in a sponsorship or product endorsement? Can you put a QR Code on a golf ball and hit the hell out of it? hahaha

Can a qr code be printed on a convex surface and still work? I’ve only seen qr codes on flat surfaces.
